Who hasn't had a problem storing rakes, shovels and other long garden tools, or stumbled over one leaning against a wall? We certainly have. We've tried putting them in barrels and hanging them from nails in a 2x4. We've bought peg racks, steel hooks, vinyl grippers, rubber grabbers and many of the other devices sold in stores. Often the plastics would crack or the vinyl and rubber would dry out and lose their grip and the free standing devices would topple over. A few of these would work sometimes, but none did the job very well, and few lasted very long.
We felt there had to be a better solution and approached the problem logically. We knew that what we wanted would need to be located out of the pathways in garages and would have to hold tools securely. We've had tools fall from peg racks on the wall and have stumbled over them in devices that block narrow walkways in garages and wanted no part of that. We knew a corner would be the best place to store them, but how can you put very many long tools in a small corner and hold them securely?

Once we recognized the fact that most long tools have a broad, but generally thin, working head, we found that if they were stored face to face, many could be retained in a small space, especially if stored in an inverted position. From there it was a short trip to conceiving the corner junction of the two walls and the floor that create a "pocket" to capture the ends of the tool handles, and hold them securely; sort of like arrows in a quiver.
We found this design provided two additional benefits; it permitted the removal or replacement of any one tool without disturbing the others, and it concentrated almost all the weight of the tool onto the handle, resting on the floor, which stabilized the tools, making them unable to fall out, as with other devices.
Following completion of this design concept, we felt for the rack to have broad utility it should store small hand tools, such as pruners, trowels, diggers, and screwdrivers as well, providing "a place for everything" in one central location. We wanted the small tools also to be individually removable, without disturbing the others. And, since some are very sharp, we wanted the small tool holder to be capable of independent mounting, out of the reach of small children.
We finally came up with a small tool holder that filled all these requirements, holds nine small hand tools and does it very well. We spent more time than we like to admit in making sure the storage openings of this accessory would accommodate the maximum number of small tools available on the market. Our work paid off in that the unit will handle about 95% of them.
In selecting the material for the invention, we needed something durable. We wanted to offer a product, that would never require replacement. From our experience, we did not want plastic or vinyl. We had wood, aluminum and steel prototypes made, and tested them all. Heavy galvanized steel was the only material we found that could do the job and assure permanence.
We built a wide variety of shapes and conducted various testing and engineering studies, finally arriving at the current design as the best possible configuration, using a horizontal corrugation profile, similar to the large steel guard beams at roadsides. Against the advice of some of our engineering consultants as being too costly, we added a double thick hem of steel over the long edge of the product, to both further increase the strength of the unit as well as to provide a smooth contact surface and protection against scratching long tools as they are inserted and removed.
Although the final product design imparts an image of simplicity, the product integrates the laws of physics with the logic of common sense. It took over seven years to bring the product to completion.
We are very satisfied with the result of our efforts. We believe the final product accomplishes all we set out to do. The U.S. Patent Office put on their stamp of approval with a very broad patent on our concept. We are especially happy to say that buyers of this product will not have to endure the frustration we went through in trying out and replacing storage devices over and over. To assure this, and against the advice of our attorney ("This could cost you a lot of money."), we decided to offer a forever guarantee. If anyone is ever dissatisfied with their product, they can return it for free repair or replacement. We don't think it will cost us anything and it makes us feel very good.
We wish to thank the One who made all of this possible, the Lord.
